RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Top officials of United States and Pakistan will meet in Washington today (Tuesday) under US- Pakistan Strategic Dialogue.

Foreign Office spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah told Business Recorder that the delegates of the two countries would hold talks on one segment of the strategic dialogue. He, however, did not elaborate further. Official sources said that the two sides would hold talks on nuclear non-proliferation and strategic stability in which Pakistan’s delegation will lead by Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry in the dialogue who has already reached Washington. The sources said that the delegation would also explore the window for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif meeting with US President Barack Obama.

The Prime Minister is expected to visit New York in September to attend the UN General Assembly, which creates an opportunity for a meeting with President Obama. The Prime Minister would also meet with other world leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
