MQM to stage sit-in in Hyderabad

RECORDER REPORT

HYDERABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will launch a protest movement and stage a sit-in protest against load-shedding and water crisis in Hyderabad from June 05 at Kohinoor Chowk.

These views were expressed by MQM leaders, MNA Waseem Khan, MPA Sabir Qaimkhani and MPA Zubair Khan in a joint press conference held at Hyderabad Press Club (HPC) here on Tuesday.

They said that Hyderabad administration had created artificial load-shedding and shortage of water in the city which cause various issues for the citizens.

The city is giving a look of ruins where sufficient funds should be allocated for its rehabilitation, they said adding there is Rs 40 billion per year budget of WASA but it is not being used properly.

Despite long-hours unscheduled load-shedding, the government and its bureaucracies had started to send over billing and deductions to consumers which caused problems for the poor consumers, they said while expressing serious concerns over the role of Hesco.

They said that citizens had not options except consuming non-safe drinking which became a cause of various diseases among them.

Leaders and the government are busy in serving their interest by victimizing the people, they said.

They also urged to Prime Minister, Federal Ministers, Governor Sindh, Chief Minister Sindh and others to take notice of suffering of the people.
