ISLAMABAD: Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan met US Deputy National Security Adviser Avril Haines at the White House on Thursday.

Foreign Secretary and Deputy NSA reviewed the entire gamut of Pak-US relationship and expressed satisfaction on the overall positive trajectory in the bilateral cooperation. They reaffirmed that the strategic cooperation was based on mutual interest, respect and understanding.

Both sides underscored their mutual desire to work towards a broad-based and comprehensive Pakistan-US partnership aimed at achieving peace, security and prosperity for the two peoples.

Deputy NSA Haines appreciated the economic progress made by Pakistan and the role played by Pakistan in promoting peace and security in the region. Both sides recognised the need for both countries to closely work together for securing peace, stability and sustainable development in the region.

Foreign Secretary Chaudhry is visiting USA to lead the Pakistan delegation for participation in the Pakistan-US Security, Strategic Stability, and Nonproliferation (SSS&NP) Working Group, a part of the strategic dialogue.—PR
