ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wants electoral reforms process to be expedited to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in future. The Prime Minister, who chaired a high-level consultative meeting with cabinet members and party’s leaders hours before the National Assembly session to discuss the Judicial Commission’s report and party’s strategy in the Parliament here on Monday, stated that the ruling party has been vindicated through its mandate and would work towards the strengthening of institutions, Constitution and good governance. Prime Minster further stated that after the report of the inquiry commission and reaction of the political forces to the report a way forward for the stability and strength of the political and democratic system is to be charted.

He urged the cabinet members to highlight the findings of the inquiry commission and directed them as well as party’s leaders to reach out to public and take them into confidence for the positive and development-oriented vision of the party, which would make the country politically stable and economically viable. Nawaz Sharif added that it’s now time that all stakeholders of democracy must show magnanimity and political maturity so that the precious time of Pakistani nation is not wasted in petty squabbles.

Sharif stated that he believed in the politics of values rather than the politics of power. He said that it’s high time that we must focus on our efforts towards strengthening the democratic process with the support of political leadership of the country.
