KARACHI: The Met Office on Wednesday forecast heavy falls in Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas divisions during the next 24 to 36 hours.

It also warned that the heavy falls may trigger flash and urban flooding in the vulnerable parts of Sindh province, advising the authorities concerned to take precautionary measures accordingly.

Besides, widespread rain/thundershower with isolated moderate to heavy falls and gusty winds are likely in Sanghar, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Ghotki and Kashmore districts. Similarly, rain/thundershower may also occur at isolated places in Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, T M Khan, Hyderabad and Larkana districts.

The Met office forecast light rain and drizzle for the coastal parts the province in the next 24 hours. It said that partly cloudy to a full cloudy weather was expected in Karachi with chances of light rain and drizzle with maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and 75 percent humidity.

Widespread rain/thundershowers with a number of moderate to isolated heavy falls occurred in Sindh different parts in the last 24 hours. The chief amount of rainfall was recorded in Nagaparkar with 190mm followed by Islamkot 113mm, Diplo 48mm, Badin 47mm, Mithi and Mirpurkhas 38mm each, Dadu 28mm, Chachro 22mm, Jacobabad 18mm, Hyderabad Airport 14.8mm and Thatta 9.6mm.

The office said that a well-marked low pressure was hovering over Rajasthan (India) and under the influence of this weather system (low pressure) monsoon currents were continuously penetrating into Pakistan. “Seasonal low lies over northwest of Balochistan,” it added.

Widespread rain-thundershower is expected in Bahawalpur, Multan, D.G khan, Sukkur, Sahiwal D I Khan and Malakand divisions. Scattered rain thundershower is likely in Zhob, Sibbi, Larkana, Nasirabad, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Mirpurkhas and Hazara divisions, Islamabad, Fata and Gilgit.

Isolated rain is also expected in Lahore, Gujranwala, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions, Kashmir and Baltistan. Isolated heavy falls are expected in Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal and D.G.Khan divisions. Rains may also unleash flash and urban flooding in south Punjab in the next 24 hours.
