KARACHI: A book entitled “Chinese Soft Power Code”, written by Pakistan’s ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Syed Hasan Javed, was launched at a ceremony held here at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM).

Karachi Council on Foreign Relations’ (KCFR) secretary-general Ahsan Zubairi and Karachi IBA social sciences department’s chairperson, Huma Baqai et al. were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, writer of the book Syed Hasan Javed, who had served as Pakistan’s diplomat in Beijing for a decade, said that said that Chinese people attached great importance to hard- work, patriotism, professionalism and impartiality.

Attributing China’s rapid change and development to its rich culture and soft power, Javed said:” Core values of the Chinese people include righteousness, humility, discipline, kindness, loyalty, enthusiasm, patience and perseverance.”

“We are taught that population creates problem and is a burden on economy, however the story of China proved otherwise,” he said, adding that 178 out of 500 fortune companies are from China which is predicted to rise up to 250 out of 500 by 2020.

At the outset, the writer exhorted the youths to work diligently as they are the future leaders of the country.

IoBB’s head of Public Affairs department, Parvez Jamil said: “Seldom has a book so overwhelmingly decodes the secret of civilization than reflecting upon China with its human resources of exemplary promise and potential emerging from the so labelled opium history and the tantrums of nuclear holocaust to one attributed as economic super power of the world than this book.”

Rector of the IoBM Talib Karim said it was quite rare and heartening to know that a serving ambassador had written a book in Pakistan although such a venture is usually undertaken after retirement from service.
