ISLAMABAD: President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed bilateral ties with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif during his brief stopover on Saturday while on his way back from Indonesia.

Earlier upon his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Begum Kalsoom Nawaz received the Turkish President and his spouse. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and federal ministers Ishaq Dar and Khawaja Asif, Advisor on National Security Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi were also present at the airport.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) presented guard of honour to the Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Later, during the meeting, PM Nawaz Sharif and Turkish President held discussions on ways to enhance their bilateral ties, besides deliberating on global and international issues of mutual interest. It should be mentioned that this is Turkish President’s first visit to the country since assuming the office of President.—INP
