PESHAWAR: To enhance the leadership skills and knowledge of the youth and enable them to play their active role in social change, peace building and progress of their societies, three days capacity building workshop concluded here on Sunday.

Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) organized the workshop under the umbrella of Harnessing Future Leaders (HFL), a youth leadership skills development project that aims to raise awareness among the youth to comprehend their role as future leaders and change makers.

On the occasion Qaumi Watan Party provincial president Sikandar Hayat Sherpao, Executive Director CRSS, Imtiaz Gul, program manager Shams Momand, master trainer Dr. Khadim Hussain and Shagufta Gul and more than 60 male and female students from different educational institutions of Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda were also present.

The project is divided into modular section, imparting knowledge and skills to the youth on fundamentals of democracy, tolerance of diversity, civic participation and responsible citizenship, good governance and accountability, universal human rights, conflict mitigation and rule of law.

On the occasion, Qaumi Watan Party provincial president, Sikandar Hayat Sherpao said that youth is the asset of the country and their better training is a sign of bright future. “Rule of law is an important ingredient for the development of the country’, he said adding that the youth of Pashtun’s are passing through a difficult stage, but any type of situation can be tackled through tolerance and proper education.

Addressing the participants, Imtiaz Gul said youth are real change makers and together they can bring about a positive change in the society. “Unfortunately there are very few youth-focused opportunities that could help them channel their talent and energies for participation in and contribution to the national socio-political life through focused intellectual capacity building and communication skills enhancing programs’, he said.

‘Realizing the need to engage young people in socio-political and economic development of the country, CRSS launched the HFL project’, he maintained. During the training, students were trained on democracy, rule of law, governance, conflict prevention & resolution and enhancing their leadership skills.
