ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that establishment of modern educational institutions is the need of the hour for achieving progress in science and technology adding that the government is paying serious attention to these sectors.

The President said this when a delegation of Sir Syed Memorial Society (SSMS) headed by its President Brig Iqbal M. Shafi (retd), called on him here at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.

The President inquired about the faculty of Sir Syed Institute and disciplines taught there and appreciated the research work of the institute. The President stated that Sir Syed Society is rendering extraordinary services in familiarizing the new generation with modern sciences and trends which is quite commendable.

The President said that Pakistan lags behind the developed world in the field of science and technology and called for facilitating those institutes rendering services in this field as a national responsibility.
