Scotland team arrives

RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: A three-member team of Scotland Yard on arrived here Tuesday in connection with investigations into the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq’s murder case. Sources said the Scotland team comprising Stuart Michael Greenaway, David Jonathan Tan and Daniel Houghton Challenger, reached here from Dubai through flight EK612.

The team will hold meetings with senior officials of Ministry of Interior and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

They further said that the UK officials would also investigate the accused in the Imran Farooq murder case along with a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) earlier constituted by the Ministry of Interior.

Earlier, a three-member team of Scotland Yard visited Islamabad in July this year. They were given access to two accused in the Dr Imran Farooq murder case.

Rangers arrested Moazzam Ali Khan, a key suspect in the Imran Farooq murder case, in April this year while two accused – Mohisn Ali and Khalid Shamim – were arrested by Frontier Crops at the Pak-Afgan border in June. Dr Imran Farooq, one of founding members of MQM and a close aide of MQM chief Altaf Hussain, was murdered in 2010 outside his home in London.
