ISLAMABAD: A three-member delegation of the Etisalat group led by its CEO, Ahmad A. K. Julfar, had a meeting with the Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, here on Thursday. Minister for IT Anusha Rehman Khan was also present.

In the meeting administrative and financial matters relating to the PTCL were discussed. The Finance Minister was presented a brief performance review of PTCL by its CEO and President, Walid Arshaid since the company was handed over to Etisalat. The Minister was also apprised of the measures that PTCL management had in mind to diversify its services and expand its business. 

The delegation apprised the meeting of the issues faced by the telecom sector. Finance Minister said that input from other stakeholders would be obtained in this regard and steps taken to address the genuine issues faced by the sector.

Minister Dar on this occasion said Pakistan has always enjoyed excellent relations with the brotherly Islamic country of the UAE and it looked forward to taking these relations to new heights in all sectors, including telecom.

He hoped that under Etisalat, services provided by PTCL would further improve in future and interconnectivity with other telecom operators/companies would be further expanded. He said the government wanted to see the telecom sector flourish as much as possible for general good of the economy.—PR
