RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Chairman, Pakistan Chemicals & Dyes Merchants’ Association (PCDMA), M. Haroon Nisar Numberdar, has expressed serious concern over continuous delay in valuation rulings and urged Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to direct customs authorities to hold at least two valuation cases proceeding weekly.

Nisar said that the prices in valuation guideline did not match with prices in international market and the prices in valuation guideline have not been revised for the last many years.

Due to non-acceptance of current prices of imported item, the prices in valuation ruling has drastically increased and customs did not start proceeding since more than one year and some valuation ruling has stuck up since 2004.

He recalled that the meetings held with customs authorities failed to produce any results and some assurances were given to them during the meetings.

Chairman PCDMA said that if proceeding was not started on urgent basis the commercial importers may go to the court on this urgent matter.
