MULTAN: Bodies of three members of a family who scorched to death in Kuwait were shifted to Lahore on Monday and taken to their native town Mian Channu for burial. Thousands of people from all walks of life attended the funeral prayer of Nasreen Akhtar, Rehana Kausar and Mehad (6). The bodies were brought to Lahore by a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-206 after identification. Director Overseas Pakistanis Punjab Rai Mubashar handed over the bodies to Malik Shamshad, a member of ill-fated family.

The other six members have been buried in Kuwait as according to the authorities their corpses were beyond recognition. 9 natives of Mian Channu, including five children, three women and a man were burnt to death Thursday as a residential building caught fire in Kuwait city. Asif, his wife, sons Umar, Hamza, daughters Javeria and Areej, Asif’s mother Nasreen Akhtar, his sister-in-law and nephew were among those who died. The incident happened in Kuwait’s city Farwaniya, where fire broke out because of short circuit. Asif’s brother, Tariq was severely injured and was in critical condition.
