KARACHI: An easier trend persisted on the open market on Tuesday in the process of trading, dealers said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee depreciated by 15 paisas in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 105.70 and Rs 105.90 respectively, they said. The rupee also shed 30 paisas against the euro for buying and selling at Rs 116.00 and Rs 117.00 respectively, they added.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee was almost unchanged versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 104.84 and Rs 104.85 respectively, dealers said.

In the second Asian trade, the dollar slipped ahead of the US Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting that begins later, while the yen gained despite expectations that the Bank of Japan will ease later this week. The US central bank is widely expected to stand pat on policy, but investors were bracing for any possible signals from the Fed about a tightening later this year.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 67.37, the greenback was at 4.0665 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.6777 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee continued fall against the US dollar and British pound on the local currency markets on Tuesday.

According to the currency dealers, the dollar commenced trading on a positive note and registered gain following buyers' interest. At the close, the dollar finished higher at Rs 105.90 and Rs 106.10 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as compared with the overnight closing rates of Rs 105.75 and Rs 105.90.

Similarly, the local currency failed to maintain upward trend and registered decline in relation to the pound sterling. The pound's buying and selling rates went up from the previous closing of Rs 139.40 and Rs 140.60 to Rs 139.80 and Rs 141.00, respectively, the dealers added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The value of rupee against the dollar remained unchanged at local currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs 104.50 (buying) and Rs 105 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in evening session and closed at Rs 104.50 (buying) and Rs 105 (selling).

Pound Sterling opened at Rs 137.50 (buying) and Rs 138 (selling). It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 137.50 (buying) and Rs 138 (selling) by the end of second session.
