LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said JI was beginning legal battle against corruption by moving the Supreme Court on Panama leaks issue while it had already launched mass movement against corruption on roads and streets.

He was talking to the media men after presiding over a meeting of the JI Political committee at Mansoora on Thursday.

He said the financial terrorists, who had plundered trillions of the public money and stashed it away in foreign banks, won’t find a refuge in the country as a consequence of the JI legal battle. This would help in the recovery of the billions lying in Swiss banks, he added.

Sirajul Haq said the JI war against corruption was not against any party or individual as it aimed at wiping out the scourge of corruption. “It was due to corruption that every new born child of the country was under heavy debt”.

He said the 375 billion dollars owned by the Pakistanis lying in Swiss banks was undoubtedly the ill-gotten wealth of a few individuals. “Corrupt politicians had taken refuge in different political parties which were providing cover to these criminals only to enhance their strength in the assemblies. It is a pity that the people who should be behind the bars, were at the helm of the affairs in the country,” he added.

The JI chief said fresh elections without electoral reforms would simply be a game of the politicians; the public voted for the corrupt in the elections and then suffered due to the mess created by their elected representatives.

Sirajul Haq also expressed concern over the increasing cases of child lifting in the Punjab which had created fear and harassment among the parents. “Punjab rulers made tall claims of good governance but the facts belied their claims. The poor parents could not provide security to their wards. The government had miserably failed to discharge its responsibility to protect the life, property and honour of the citizens,” he added.
