PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Tuesday passed a unanimous resolution condemning the shelling of Indian forces targeting innocent people of occupied Kashmir and warned India to stop this atrocities and aggression against peaceful Kashmiris.

The resolution was moved by Fakhare Azam Wazir of PPP; and carrying the signatures of Provincial Minister Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, Shah Hussain of JUI-F, and Syed Jafar Shah of ANP and was supported by all members of the house.

The house termed the heavy shelling by Indian forces a gruesome and highly condemnable and warned India to refrain from such adventurism and rather promote cordial relations with neighbouring countries. The house warned India that such brutalities would negatively affect the peace in the region.

Speaking in support of the resolution, Bakht Baidar of QWP said that Kashmir is the problem of the whole Pakistan, Pakhtunkhwa and tribal area. He said that they want to tell Indian Prime Minister Modi to refrain from his wrong thinking. Otherwise, the whole Pakistani nation is standing behind Pakistan Army and India would have face shameful defeat like 1965.

Sardar Hussain Babak of ANP also supported the resolution and condemned the bombardment of India on innocent Kashmiris.

The Deputy Speaker later put the resolution to vote and the house adopted it unanimously.

Meanwhile, the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tuesday referred two questions of Fakhar-e-Azam Wazir of PPP to standing committee on Zakat & Usher for conducting inquiry into the irregularities in the distribution of Zakat and selection of the members of local zakat committees.

Speaking on his question regarding irregularities in the distribution of Zakat Fund in his home district Bannu, the PPP MPA stated that the detail information provided to the house lacking the numbers of the Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and complete address of the beneficiaries.

He said that in a situation when no one can move in the province without identity cards, then how the persons succeeded in getting zakat fund and requested the chair to refer the question to standing committee to conduct inquiry into the matter. The Provincial Minister for Zakat & Usher, Habib-ur-Rehman opposed the referring of the question to the standing committee and asked the PPP legislator to select 5 to 6 beneficiaries to conduct inquiry into matter. However, he later agreed with the demand of the member to refer the matter to the standing committee concerned.
