LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of provincial cabinet committee on law and order, here on Monday to review security plan evolved for ensuring peace and harmony during Muharram.

Home Secretary and Inspector General Police gave a detailed briefing on security plan and other matters in this regard. CCPO Lahore informed about the steps taken in the provincial metropolis for ensuring peace and harmony.

Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Spokesman Punjab Government Zaeem Hussain Qadri, MPA, Jehangir Khanzada, MPA, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and senior officials attended the meeting.

The CM said collective efforts are needed to foil the nefarious designs of anti-state elements during Muharram. Shehbaz said that effective measures should be taken for maintaining religious amity and harmony during Muharram.

He said the law enforcement agencies have rendered glorious services for maintenance of law and order and protection of life and property of citizens.

He said the law enforcement agencies should maintain a close coordination and remain fully alert to meet any untoward situation.

The modern technology should be fully utilized for implementation and monitoring of the security plan while a watchful eye should be kept on the activities of anti-social elements.

He said that cabinet committee should monitor the measures for the implementation of security plan and measures for protection of life and property of the masses in the province.
