RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The very first 135 kilowatt net metering system electricity meter was installed in the LESCO region at a private factory on Thursday.

This meter facilitates the consumers on measuring the electricity either generated through solar panels for LESCO or consumed the system-fed electricity by the consumer.

This meter computes the difference of electricity exported and imported by the consumer at the end of the month to generate a bill.

Chief Executive Officer LESCO Wajid Ali Kazmi said those producing solar power can sell it to the LESCO to contribute to the national grid and also earn handsomely simultaneously.

The LESCO chief said the company would install domestic connections of net metering system electricity meters as well after a successful launch to the industrial consumers.

He said the LESCO was imparting special training to its employees to deal with these meters. It will also pave the way for generation of green energy in the country, he added.
