LAHORE: Several political leaders especially Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) figures including co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Monday paid rich tribute to Jahangir Badar over his services in national politics.

Leaders, who offered their condolences to the bereaved family, include PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul-Haq and Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar.

Bilawal voiced his grief at the demise of Jahangir Badar over micro-blogging website. Paying glowing tribute to Badar, former President Zardari said the deceased PPP leader put up a tough fight against dictatorship and continued his struggle for the PPP and democracy.

Bakhtawar Bhutto and Asifa Bhutto were also of the same view that Badar never flinched back vis-à-vis dictatorship.

Shahbaz Sharif termed Badar as a resolute political worker. PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique praised Badar as the brave leader of middle class.

Dr Farooq Sattar said the national politics is bereft of a towering personality.—NNI
