PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani has said that the provincial government has allocated one billion rupees for the promotion of youth in the province who will present innovative ideas to Higher Education Department.

This, he stated during visit to ‘Mega Buzz’ event, organised by the UET Computer Student Society through which different competitions on robotics, arts, sports and computer games were arranged.

Mushtaq Ghani also visited the stalls set up by different colleges and student clubs who showcased their models and projects. He appreciated the efforts of Computer Society for arranging the event at a large scale involving youth from all fields to gather and work constructively for technology.

He said, “UET Peshawar has created an opportunity to equip the youth with the knowledge of IT. Universities are the true seats of higher learning, research and innovation. PTI Government is also taking several initiatives to promote youth and innovative ideas in applied sciences and technology fields.”

The government has established 24 Offices of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) in all universities of KP and to support those, endowment fund of Rs 500 million has been allocated for researchers of universities, “however, it is unfortunate that no university has approached the HED,” he remarked. He urged the students to submit their proposals to HED and benefit from government initiative.
