KARACHI: IBA Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF), Karachi hosted a book launch of “Understanding Takaful: Theory and Practise” on Wednesday.

As part of promoting Islamic Finance education and scholarship, the Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance, Institute of Management Sciences (CEIF IMSciences) and Pak-Qatar Family Takaful Limited have jointly produced a much-needed textbook on Takaful, which is an Islamic alternative to Insurance.

Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Director IBA CEIF welcomed the participants including Director IMSciences, Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan and authors from CEIF IMSciences, Adnan Malik, Dr. Karim Ullah and Nasir Ali Syed.

The chief guest Samar Husnain Executive Director State Bank of Pakistan lauded the efforts of the Centre and Pak Qatar and motivated the participants to further contribute to this cause of spreading awareness.

The book is part of the SBP Financial Innovation challenge, through which three CEIFs are established at IBA, Karachi, IMSciences, Peshawar and LUMS, Lahore.

The book provides a comprehensive account of Takaful theory and practice, where the concepts are explained with real life examples and exhibits from Pak Qatar to aid in reader learning and reflection.—PR
