KARACHI: “Pakistan is a dream of Allama lqbal and Allama lqbal Education Commission should be formed just like Higher Education Commission, Chairman, Pak-Qatar Business Council, Arshad Mahmood suggested.

Addressing a meeting of Hamdard Naunehal Assembly Karachi chapter on the theme: “Importance of education in the light of Iqbal’s thoughts”, at a local hotel, he said, “We own Allama lqbal, but we don’t follow his teachings.”

Paying homage to Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said, he said that his life was exemplary. He had qualities of Iqbal’s Mard-i-Momin and made Hamdard a success story.

Speaking on the occasion, Sadia Rashid, President, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan said that Allama lqbal had many expectations from the youths and children of the nation, but unfortunately no heed, according to the wishes of lqbal, was paid on education as more than 2.5 millions children were out of schools in the country. Double standard of education and several parallel system of education is big predicament in the way of promotion of education in the country. Young speakers Hamna Shakil, Hafiz Obaidur Rehman, Fatema Hayat, Areesha Ghauri, Sami Zakir, Shah, Talha Moazzam and Suhana Abdul Qadir also spoke.—PR
