ISLAMABAD: Crime rate registered an upward trend in the federal capital during the past week, as various police stations of the city registered eight cases of auto theft, seven cases of robbery, two cases of kidnapping and one case of murder.

According to the crime statistics collected by Business Recorder here on Saturday, the criminal elements remained active in the limits of Industrial Area, Sabzi Mandi and Nilor police stations during the past week.

Industrial Area police station registered one case of robbery and two other cases.

According to details, Sarfaraz Sajid lodged a complaint with Industrial Area police station that four unknown armed persons boarding a car (RL-08) intercepted him and snatched cash and a mobile phone from him at gunpoint.

Similarly, motor vehicle thieves stole a car bearing registration number AB-9984 of Sheikh Mujahid Javed and lifted a bike (RIQ-2311) of Yousuf Nadeem from the parking of Excise and Taxation Office.

During the week under review, Sabzi Mandi police station registered two cases of robbery and one case of auto theft. Auto thieves stole a car (IDH-9302) of Rana Saqib Ali, parked in front of his house at sector I-10/1.

Muhammad Irfan Younus, a resident of Sector I-10/1 informed Sabzi Mandi police station that unknown robbers had stolen gold ornaments, prize bond and a mobile phone from his house.

In another incident, three armed robbers broke into the shop of Waqar Ahmad located in Sector I-10 of the federal capital and looted valuables at gunpoint.

Nilor Police Station registered one case each of robbery and auto theft. Auto thieves stole a bike of Sher Afzal, parked in front of his house.

Kaneez Fatima lodged a complaint with Nilor Police Station that the accused Noor-ul-Haq had stolen 12 tolas (approximately 144 grams) of gold from his house.

During the period, Shahzad Town and Shams Colony police stations registered one case each of women kidnapping. Kohsar and Sihala police stations registered one case each of motor vehicle theft. Shalimar and Karachi Company police stations registered one case each of robbery.

During the past week, a constable Muhammad Zaman was allegedly shot and dead by Nisar Ali and Tahir Ali in the limits of Aabpara police station.
