RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Defence Committee on Thursday passed a resolution to strongly condemn the willful violations across the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary by India through a systematic aggressive policy.

The committee was informed that India violated ceasefire 303 times at the LoC and the WB. On Pakistani side, 12 Army personnel and 45 citizens were martyred and 138 others got injured, while on the other side of boundary, an estimated 40 soldiers were killed.

The committee was further informed that the artillery has been used for the first time since 2003. The objective was to divert attention away from the Kashmir issue and also running from the meaningful dialogue.

In the resolution, it has been stated that such a policy not only escalated tension between Pakistan and India, but also has resulted in loss of innocent lives and damage to property.

The committee urged the UNMOGIP, which enjoys a mandate to monitor the LoC and the WB, and the international community to take notice of the Indian aggression and the government of Pakistan should take concerted measures to protect the country and also proactively counter these aggressive Indian actions.

The committee also appreciated the proactive and professional role of Pakistan Navy in spotting, monitoring, exposing and driving the Indian submarine out of Pakistani territory.
