PESHAWAR: Former chief minister and Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has stressed the need for unity among Pakhtuns to meet serious challenges, besides to protect their existence and future of young generation.

Addressing the party workers in Topi city, Kalabat and Zaobai he said that as compared to other regions of the country all the Pakhtun terrain confront numerous problems and if they failed to forge unity in their ranks then they would experience more complicated problems in future. He said that Pakhtuns should follow the non-violence philosophy of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan who rendered sacrifices for Pakhtuns and offered them guidance in a very difficult period of their history.

The former Chief Minister urged the party workers that they should work with complete devotion and determination while keeping in mind the next general election, maintain close contact with the people.

Mr Hoti alleged that due to wrong policies and priorities of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led provincial government province faces the worst financial difficulties and in the last year of its constitutional term it would be in more trouble. He said that the several projects announced or initiated by PTI government could not be completed during its constitutional tenure owing to financial crisis. He said that the government had also admitted that it is facing financial problems.

Further deterioration in financial position of the province could not be ruled out, he said, adding that the financial difficulties unveiled the weakness and complete failure of the PTI government.

The former chief minister said it was wrong approach to announce development projects and then fail to complete them in time due to constraints to fund the projects. The PTI leadership should remember that such policy could not work and would back fire he said.

The ANP leader said that empty claims and hollow slogans were made to influence people’s mind while looking for a shortcut to acquire power and indulge in politics of sit-in and allegations, he said.

The gathering was graced by senator Sitara Ayaz, former minister Zarshed Khan, Ex MPAs Sikandar Irfan and Sarfraz Khan. Ameer Rahman, district president of the party and general secretary Muhammad Islam also spoke on the occasion.
