LAHORE: Chairman of the steering committee for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project (LOMTP) Kh. Ahmad Hassan has directed LDA and NESPAK for urgently chalking out a comprehensive plan for remodeling of roads by suggesting U-turns, intersections and other traffic engineering solutions at appropriate points for smooth flow of vehicles along 27 kilo meters long track of orange line, passing through busy and congested areas of the provincial metropolis.

Presiding the weekly progress review meeting for LOMTP, here Wednesday, Kh. Ahmad Hassan directed for looking into the proposal for establishing a linear park on the land recently got vacated by encroachers alongside the track in addition to constructing walkways and foot paths for pedestrians and specifying park and ride places as a part of this project.

The meeting was informed that more than 60 per cent civil work of the project has so far been completed. Progress on package-I from Dera Gujjaran, G T Road to Choburji was75 per cent, on package-II from Choburji to Ali Town was 45 per cent on Depot near Dera Gujran was 63 per cent while on Stabling Yard near Ali Town it was 59 per cent.

The meeting was further told that WASA had invited open tenders for construction of a 13 kilo meters long drain form Haji Camp to Nicholson Road to the River Ravi via Mecleod Road and Choburji by the 20th of this month after being given a go ahead by the Punjab Public Procurement Regulatory Authority in this regard.

The meeting decided to shift the existing tube well, installed adjacent to the wall of Cathedral School on Mecleod Road to the nearby Patyala Ground for ensuring uninterrupted supply of water to the people in the forthcoming summer season.
