KARACHI: President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), Mian Zahid Hussain has eliminating the menace of terrorism from the country has become imperative to make borders secure, make China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a success and keep the pace of economic development.

Lauding the Army for launching ‘Operation Raad-ul-Fasaad’ across the country, he said it was a much needed move in the light of escalating terror incidents which has terrorised the population across the country. Mian Zahid Hussain said that masses and business community have pinned high hopes on COAS Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa to indiscriminately eliminate the threat of terrorism to ensure security of country. He said that countrywide de-weaponization and deployment of over 2000 Rangers personnel in Punjab with policing powers are laudable moves while the role of Rangers in Karachi, the economic hub of Pakistan has remained very satisfactory.

He noted that war against terrorism can be won only if Pakistan and Afghanistan are on the same page and that allowing Army to act against terrorists across the border will break the backbone of militants. He said that business community supports the shift in tone of the military leadership from anger and the threat of unilateral action against Afghanistan to coordinated action against the mutual threat of terrorism which will help melt some ice.

Mian Zahid Hussain noted that NACTA is a dysfunctional institution which is widely criticised for its impotency therefore it should be disbanded as it has failed to disrupt and destroy terror networks in urban and rural areas.

The President PBIF said that those outfits and personalities fanning terrorism should be dealt with iron hands. In this regard the Business Community assures its complete support & coordination with Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif & Gen. Bajwa.
