ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that all immediate and necessary measures be taken up to remove blasphemous content present on social media.

PM Sharif said all essential measures should be taken up in accordance with the judicial guidelines, adding, "Dereliction of duty will not be tolerated in this regard."

The blasphemous content was an impure attempt to ruffle the sentiments of Muslim Ummah, he asserted.

Nawaz Sharif directed Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to take all necessary measures to block blasphemous contents on social media and those responsible should meet their logical end promptly.

He said steps should be taken to completely eradicate the condemnable blasphemous contents on social media.

The Prime Minister has sought daily report on the issue.

He directed that international organisations relating to social media should be approached for blockade of blasphemous contents and Foreign Office should play its role in that regard.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the issue was before the court and all steps should be taken in line with the guidance of the court.-NNI
