KARACHI: The director general of Sindh’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Syed Salman Shah, has said that disasters and climate change are becoming an increasing threat to the world, particularly Pakistan and Sindh.

Speaking at a seminar on preparedness for the monsoons and heat waves, and on contingency planning for 2017, he said there is dire need for a comprehensive plan to avert the disasters. The seminar jointly held by the PDMA in collaboration with the HANDS organization,

He briefed the participants on the objectives of the seminar.

He urged all the stakeholders as well as partner organizations to prepare a comprehensive contingency plan for the forthcoming monsoons and possible heat waves.

He also discussed a few precautionary measures like provision of logistics support to district administrations, training of ambulance and boat drivers and establishment of relief centres.

He expressed his gratitude over the positive and cooperative role of the media for creation of awareness among the masses.
