KARACHI: Crackdown against criminal elements continues in Karachi as Rangers and police arrested at least 15 accused during operations in different parts of the city in the wee hours of Saturday.

Rangers’ personnel started the door-to-door search operation in different areas of Karachi. The operation was conducted on intelligence about the presence of suspected criminals in the neighbourhood.

According to a statement released by rangers, five suspects were arrested from the areas of Defence, Korangi and Shahra-e-Faisal.

The suspects were a five-member gang, involved in bank robberies and street crimes. Rangers also recovered a 9mm pistol from the suspects, which was used in the killing of a police officer.

In other raids, rangers arrested six further suspects including two target killers of MQM-London and extortionists and street criminals from Nazimabad area. The arrested MQM workers were identified as Arfain alias Arshad Muna and Saghir Ansari.

Ranger also carried out operation in Saeedabad and Sohrab Goth areas and arrested four accused involved in street crimes.

On the other hand, police carried out raids in Awami Colony, Shahrah-e-Faisal and Gulshan-e-Iqbal areas and arrested four accused involved in street crimes.—INP
