HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced development projects for the city, which included an international airport and a metro bus scheme.

Addressing a charged-up crowd at the PML-N’s Workers Convention, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he was delighted to see the response of the people of Hyderabad and saluted them for their passion.

Nawaz said that his government launched a decisive war against militants which rid the people of Karachi from fear.

“Today, the backs of terrorists have been broken in Pakistan,” said Nawaz. “We have also eliminated terrorism from Hyderabad. Balochistan was steeped in terrorism, now it is undergoing development,” he added.

Nawaz took to task the previous government and held them responsible for not constructing the motorway from Karachi to Hyderabad. He also questioned the predecessor government for not distributing health cards prior to 2013.

“Previous rulers should be asked regarding their performances,” he said. “When they come to ask you for votes, ask them for what are they seeking your votes?” said Sharif to the crowd.

Nawaz stated that the motorway will connect Karachi to Hyderabad and from Hyderabad, the motorway will go on to Sukkur. He announced a package of Rs 50 crore for the district government of Hyderabad and another Rs 100 crore for setting up a university in the city.

He said that when PML-N came to power in 2013, the situation of the country was very worst and terrorism was at its peak.

He added that during the three and half year rule, the PML-N brought marked improvement both in economic and security situation of the country. “Today’s Pakistan is a changed Pakistan. After coming to power we take on terrorism head-on.

Talking about the importance of Karachi, he said that Karachi was juggler vein of Pakistan. “If Karachi will progress, the whole country will progress and prosper. Insha-Allah, Karachi’s lights will be restored and it will again become city of lights,” he pledged.

He added that Balochistan was also on the road to progress and successful completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would usher in a new era of development and prosperity in Balochistan and the whole country.

Regarding load-shedding, the Prime Minister said that when the PML-N came into power, there was worst energy crisis and economy was nosediving. “The government took steps on emergency basis to overcome the crisis and Insha-Allah by next year Pakistan will be load-shedding free,” he added.

The Prime Minister said that the day was not far when poverty and ignorance would be eliminated from across the country.

He added that the government was laying a network of road and motorways in the country.

Nawaz Sharif expressed his profound thanks and appreciation to the people of Hyderabad for a warm reception and mentioned that the same enthusiasm was visible in other parts of the country as well.

He expressed that the government has started a number of development projects for the amelioration of masses.

The prime minister let it be known that the educational institutions have been established in all parts of the country.

Nawaz Sharif claimed at the occasion that the power of load shedding has been overcome as gone are the days when there used to be 16 hours load shedding.

He revealed that the government has also started projects in order to fulfill the future needs of electricity in Pakistan.

The prime minister let it be known during his speech that the networks of highways and motorways will make the lives of people more comfortable.

Target killing, extortion and crimes were in their peak in Karachi 2013 but the PML-N government launched operation and today peace has been restored in Karachi,” he added. The prime minister also announced to build an international level new airport in the district.—INP
