NAVEED BUTT

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah has said that ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government should take Parliament into confidence over the matter of Indian spy and agent of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Kulbhushan Yadav.

Shah expressed these views while talking to the media at his chamber here on Tuesday. He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has not taken the Parliament into confidence on Yadav’s issue.

“This matter is linked with the integrity and sovereignty of the country. We had asked the Prime Minister to raise the issue of Yadav in the United Nations (UN), but he did not do so,” he said.

He said the government should brief the Parliament about Yadav’s issue. “Now, Pakistan military court has awarded death sentence to Yadav over carrying out espionage and sabotage activities against Pakistan. It is not a big issue as India has also given punishments to the people of Pakistan. But, at least the government should inform the Parliament and the nation what India is doing in Pakistan,” he added.

“Now India will start propaganda on this issue and we should immediately inform the international community that Pakistan has awarded death sentence to Yadav under the law,” he elaborated.

Shah said Yadav deserves to be hanged as he is responsible for terror activities in Pakistan, adding that the secret agents get the same punishment under the Army Act.

He condemned the ‘extrajudicial kidnappings’ of the workers of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) in the strongest possible terms and said he has no objection on detention of the workers but he objects to their forced abductions. He said that under the Constitution, any arrested person is to be presented before the magistrate within 24 hours.
