RECORDER REPORT

MULTAN: President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi has said that equal opportunities must be provided to local and foreign investors under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Roomi said that Pakistan is successfully marching towards market economy. Government should offer equal opportunities to local and foreign investors while all sectors are open for foreign investment under complete legal protection, he added.

He said our economy has achieved a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of seven percent. Modern banking sector, growing industrial and agriculture sectors are making significant contributions in the national economy, he mentioned.

He said that only Chinese companies, active in aluminium, steel, edible oil, electric car and motorcycle etc, were given out land on lease in the phase 1 of industrial development zone of Gwadar which is unfair to promote international manufacturers at the cost of local producers. Local businessmen should also be allowed to set up industries with the same incentives, he said.
