RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party on Sunday said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should resign after Panama case decision and appear before the JIT to face allegations against him.

“We will stage protests, sit-ins in the Go Nawaz Go movement across the country if he did not resign and will not halt our protest movement unless the prime minister is ousted from power,” These views were expressed by PPP leaders who held protest demos at five different locations of the city including Hassan Square, Regal Chowk, Malir Press Club, Hyderi Chowk and Eidgah office at Orangi No 5.

The PPPP leaders who addressed these rallies included PPP Sindh chapter President and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, General Secretary Sindh Waqar Mehdi, Senator Saeed Ghani, Shehla Raza and others.

Nisar Khuhro said that since JIT is formed against person accused of any wrongdoing therefore Nawaz Sharif is also an accused and he should resign from his post. “Nawaz Sharif had to resign from his post as no accused can hold the office of prime minister,” he said. He said that those criticizing PPP including Nawaz Sharif, his ministers and others should be ashamed of themselves over saying that the Panama case decision had come in their favour.

“PML-N is the party of dictators and had always worked for them but on the other hand PPP had always respected the state institutions including the judiciary and despite decisions against their prime ministers by the judiciary, they had always accepted it.” He said that the judiciary had never dispensed justice against the PPP but despite of that the Bhutto family had always sacrificed for sake of democracy in the country.“Nawaz Sharif should not forget that time when he ran away from the country and it was Benazir Bhutto who helped him in returning to the country,” he said. Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza said that if Nawaz Sharif would not resign then he would be forced to leave his position through protest movements. “All groups in opposition and other political parties should join hand for this single agenda,” she said adding that if a joint movement would be launched then he would be ousted from power soon.

Senator Saeed Ghani said that the federal government led by Nawaz Sharif was depriving small provinces from their due rights of electricity, gas and water resources and the Sindh province is the first to initiate protest movement against the Sharifs. “Federal government is depriving the Sindh province from its due rights and despite major supplier of gas to the country, the rural areas of the province are witnessing 20-hours load shedding daily,” said the senator adding that the PML-N is taking revenge from people of the province for not voting for it.

He said that the Imran Khan should focus on his politics instead of criticizing PPP and the PTI leaders should teach Imran Khan that the politics is not a game of bouncers instead they had to play one day and test match and show some patience.

Ghani further said that those who are staging protest for rights of Karcahiites should inform the nation first as to what they had done for the Karcahiites when they were in power.

The PPP leaders further announced to hold sit-in in front of Mazar e Quaid on April 26 and said that scope of this protest could be widened to other parts of the country and if felt necessary then the protest could also be held in Islamabad.

They further appealed the nation to prepare for Go Nawaz Go and said that the protest movement against the Nawaz Sharif would be led by Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto.

They further demanded the apex court to ensure formation of unbiased and transparent JIT for the probe into the case.
