PESHAWAR: Two more persons involved in Mashal Khan’s lynching were arrested in Mardan on Tuesday.

Mardan District Police Officer (DPO), Dr Mian Saeed said the suspects, Ashfaq Khilji and Fazal Raziq, were identified through CCTV footage.

“The accused Ashfaq Khilji deeply wounded Mishal by hitting him on the head with a plant pot and the accused Fazal Razak disrespected the deceased’s body,” the DPO said.

The arrested individuals were remanded to the police for four days.

CCTV footage showed Mashal received a severe blow on the head when Ashfaq Khalji hit him with a pot, DPO Mardan said.

Mardan police have so far arrested 36 people for involvement in the lynching of the Abdul Wali Khan University’s student Mashal.

Earlier on April 23, university’s employee, wanted for inciting the mob to murder Mashal Khan over unfounded blasphemy allegations was arrested.

On Saturday, police arrested another suspect, a student named Amir, from Tangi tehsil in Charsadda. He was identified in the lynching video that surfaced soon after the horrific killing of Mashal.
