PESHAWAR: Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) Mohmand Agency branch observed World Red Cross Day in the Islamia New Model School Pandiali tehsil in the tribal agency on Wednesday; the theme of Day was “Everywhere for everyone”.

It is worth mentioning that World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is an annual celebration of the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The date is the anniversary of the birth of Henry Dunant (born 8th May 1828), the founder of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize.

On the occasion Principal of Islamia New Model School Pandiali Zarzada Khan was the chief Guest, while Agency Secretary Pakistan Red Crescent Mohmand Fauzee Khan; Disaster Management Officer, Irfan Ullah; (CBRE) Community Based Risk Education Officer, Afzal Khan; Behlol Khan, School teachers, students and volunteers participated in the program.

While speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Red Crescent Mohmand DMO Irfan said that PRC is a voluntary humanitarian organization, dedicated to improving lives of vulnerable people. He added that in all tribal areas they have more than three thousand volunteers that help the vulnerable people in time of disasters in the areas.

Mr Irfan said that The Day is meant to inspire, facilitate and also promote all humanitarian activities that are carried out by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and National Societies which are its members.

Agency Secretary PRC Mohmand Agency Fauzee Khan said that PRC core areas of works included Disaster Management, Relief work during and after disasters (Natural or manmade), health & Care, Promotion of Humanitarian values and Organizational Development.
