ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador David Hale affirmed Pakistan’s role and great sacrifices in eradication of terrorism.

The US Ambassador in a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Bajwa on Monday acknowledged Pakistan’s role and great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

The meeting discussed regional, security and bilateral terms shared by Pakistan and United States.

The US ambassador lauded the statement of the Army Chief on May 18 regarding Afghanistan that Pakistan would take all measures to ensure that militants do not use Pakistani soil to carry out attacks against any country.  In this vein, General Bajwa offered renewed assurances that Pakistan would not permit its territory to be misused against its neighbouring country Afghanistan.

During the meeting, both sides expressed hope for a stable and safe Afghanistan.

According to the US Embassy in Pakistan, “Ambassador Hale noted President Donald Trump’s call during his speech at the Arab-Islamic-American Summit for a vision of peace, security, prosperity and unity in conquering extremism and terrorism. He affirmed Pakistan’s role and great sacrifices in this effort. ”

The meeting of the US Ambassador took place after US President Donald J Trump ignored Pakistan’s efforts and sacrifices in the war against terror, while branding India as a victim of terrorism.

During his speech at the first trilateral US-Arab-Islamic Summit, Donald Trump forgot to talk about sacrifices rendered by brave soldiers of Pakistan Army despite being given status of frontline ally by the United States.

He also avoided appreciating the operations launched by Pakistan to eradicate terrorism but extended condolences to India for being a victim.
