PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on Monday calling for implementation of the death sentence to Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, awarded by military court.

The resolution was moved by Mufti Said Janan of JUI-F and signed by Minister Shah Farman of PTI, Muhammad Ali of Jamaat-e-Islami, Syed Jafar Shah of ANP, Meraj Humayun of QWP, Amna Sardar of PML-N and Bakht Bedar of QWP.

The resolution read as Kulbhushan Jadhav was RAW agent and was involved in subversive activities in Pakistan, and had admitted his crimes before the interrogation team.

He was arrested by Pakistani intelligence agencies on charges of spying red-handed. Kulbhushan Jadhav was rewarded death sentence by the court. Therefore, this assembly demands of the provincial government to recommend to the federal government for implementation of death sentence in accordance with the Pakistani laws, so that in future no country or individual could resort to such a shameful, unforgivable and unbearable act.

Earlier, the deputy speaker, Dr Meher Taj Roghani suspended rules to allow the mover, Mufti Said Janan to move the resolution.

Meanwhile, the House referred a call attention notice of the Sardar Zahoor Ahmad of PML-N regarding changes in the curriculum for detail discussion to the concerned standing committee of the House.

In his call attention notice, the opposition legislator alleged the PTI led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in the name of development has amended the academic curriculum, which termed tantamount to the accomplishment of Western agenda.

He was of the view that the provincial government through its amendments in curriculum has not only violated the ideological frontiers of Pakistan, but has made a heinous effort to deface the Islamic ideologies, manners, traditions and local civilization.

The PML-N legislator further said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in the name of Education Sector Reform Unit (ESRU) is receiving hefty amount from European donor agencies, which beside the provision of free text books is also utilized for bringing changes in the curriculum.

He alleged that curriculum in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been left at the mercy of European donor agencies, which make the new generation of the province mentally slaves of the West.

The accomplishment of the Western agenda and in fact defeat of Pakistan, which will disintegrate the ideological frontiers of the country. Therefore, he called for the immediate abolition of the new curriculum and restoration of previous one. However, in case of any deficiency, the changes should be brought while taking into consideration the Islamic ideology, manners, traditions, local civilization and society.

Leader of Opposition, Maulana Lutf-ur-Rehman also expressed concern over the issue and called supported the referring of the matter to the standing committee concerned of the house to hold detail debate and then take decision on it. Amna Sardar of PML-N also supported her colleague.

Responding to the call attention notice, the Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Mohammad Atif Khan said that the issue has already been discussed in the house on several occasions. However, he said that they are ready for the clarification.

The provincial minister said that some elements are criticizing changes in the curriculum for few pennies and alleged the issue is politicized by those who had turned education sector into a business and are opposed to the regulatory authority. He said that the provincial cabinet has already approved the establishment of regulatory authority for private sector schools.

Senior PTI leader and Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE), Shah Farman rejected criticism on changes in the curriculum and said that Pakistan is a Islamic Democratic Republic and not a secular state, saying they had made 8 Islamic legislations including the declaring of Nazra Qur’aan as compulsory subject in the schools and have also declared First Muharram as holiday in the province. However, he agreed with the contentions of the opposition for referring the issue to the standing committee. Later, the Deputy Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the house till Tuesday 3 pm.
