LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has arrested Pakistan Post’s serving Postmaster, Abdul Manaf, on the charges of committing Rs 10.21 million embezzlement in public money during his incumbency.

NAB Lahore received a complaint in 2016 through Postmaster General to probe into the financial graft. Keeping in view the case tendency, NAB initiated direct inquiry which turned into “Investigation” in August 2016. During the course of case proceedings, it was unearthed that the accused manipulated accounts to misappropriate Rs 10.21 million. NAB Lahore also conducted the ground check to verify the operational methodology and to examine the witnesses and account holders at Shorkot city Post Office.

Accused Abdul Manaf has been arrested on the directives of Director General NAB Lahore Shahzad Saleem and presented before accountability court for seeking of his physical remand, in which, further revelations are expected.

Keeping in view Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry’s zero tolerance policy against corruption and corrupt practices, NAB Lahore is determined to eradicate corruption from society, a spokesman of NAB said.
