KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 165,325 tonnes of cargo comprising 122,406 tonnes of import cargo and 42,919 tonnes of export cargo including 5,717 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 122,406 tonnes comprised of 42,031 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,308 tonnes of general cargo; 29,168 tonnes of bulk cargo: 23,545 tonnes of coal; 5,623 tonnes of fertilizer and 49,899 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 42,919 tonnes comprised of 30,247 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,172 tonnes of bulk cargo: 8,672 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 3,500 tonnes of talcum powder and 500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,717 containers comprising of 2,776 containers import and 2,941 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,262 of 20’s and 756 of 40’s loaded while 02 of 20’s and nil of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 809 of 20’s and 415 of 40’s loaded containers while 564 of 20’s and 369 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Kota Kamil, Sima Giselle, Northern Dependant, Mid Falcon and BW Amazon carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There was six vessels viz. Wan Hai-501, Prosper, Star Express, Bravo-V, CS Flourish and Beagle-II carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were four ships namely Wan Hai-501, Prosper, YM Keelung and Bengal Orchid carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while another ship namely Mohar carrying cement is expected to sail on Saturday.

There were six vessels viz. Al Abdali, APL Japan, Malhari, MT Karachi, SC Ningbo and Kiran America carrying containers, chemical, oil tankers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while seven vessels viz. MSC Manya, Hyundai Splendor, Rio Cadiz, Everrich-7, Intrepid Republic, Nautical Marie and Atlantis Trade carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, DAP and steel respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 119,795 tonnes comprising 104,516 tonnes of import cargo and 15,279 tonnes of export cargo including 1,723 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 104,516 tonnes includes 51,081 tonnes of diesel oil; 900 tonnes of LPG; 16,415 tonnes of soyabean; 19,228 tonnes of coal and 11,457 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 15,279 tonnes includes 13,509 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,770 tonnes of cement.

As many as 1,723 containers comprising of 1,012 containers import and 711 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There was one ship namely MT Kahyasi carrying LPG sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely CV Maipo, MV African Falcon and MT Sovereign carrying containers, cement and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Albany, CV Maipo, MV African Falcon, MV Global Phoenix, MV Rui Ning-2, MV Good Hope Max, MT Kahyasi and MT Sovereign currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, soyabean, LPG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as nineteen ships namely CV CMA CGM Amazon, MV Nord Destroy, MV Frontier Leader, MV Maine Ehime, MV Lumphini Park, MV Intrepid Republic, MV Santa Virginia, MV Nord Leader, MV New Era, MT Gaspian Gas, MT Umm Bab, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Spruce-2, MT BW Zamesi, MT Quetta, MT Fortune Villa, MT Harminy-1, MT Impros and MT Ginga Leopard carrying containers, soyabean, canola seeds, steel coil, chemical, coal, LPG, LNG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Uni Florida, MV Maine Ehime, MV Lumphini Park, MT Gaspian Gas, MT Umm Bab and MT Ginga Leopard carrying containers, steel coil, chemical, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Engro Energy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were eight ships namely CV Uni Florida, MV Ruri, MV Lian Hua Song, MV Eternal Triumph, MT Maria-III, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Brizo and MT Chemroad Sakura carrying containers, general cargo, coal, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Friday, while three ships namely CV Maersk Nicoline, CV Akinada Bridge and MT New Naxox carrying containers and furnace oil respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

There is one ship namely CV MSC Manya carrying containers due to arrive on Sunday, while two ships namely CV MSC Mykonos and CV MSC Asya carrying containers are due to arrive on Monday.
