HYDERABAD: Institute of Environment Engineering and Management (IEEM) in collaboration with US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) celebrated World Environment Day on Monday, at the main auditorium of the University. In prize distribution ceremony, Prof Dr Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor MUET said that the environment is basically an attitude of a man to the nature, which affects the whole scenario.

Dr Uqaili said that by adopting the modern technology with positive attitude could bring the change in the society. In order to achieve the sustainable development, people have to adopt environment friendly behavior and optimistic attitude to nature”, he added. He further said that everyone has to play his or her vital role to solve the problems pertaining to the basic needs of the communities.

Earlier, Dr Uqaili inaugurated the celebrations of the World Water Day. Prof. Dr Rasool Bux Mahar, Deputy Director USPCAS-W in his welcome address said that celebrating that day by annually since 1973 aims at to sensitize the people to keep the environment clean and neat. He said that a man was created from soil and water, the key components of the environment, contamination of any of two will affect the human being ultimately.
