LAHORE: University of Engineering & Technology Lahore Syndicate on Thursday approved Rs 3.651 billion budget with deficit of Rs 171.861 million for the year 2017-18. Chairing the syndicate meeting, UET Lahore Vice Chancellor Fazal Ahmed Khalid briefed the members on budget item wise.

The Treasure UET Imran Babar said that a sum of Rs 4841.285 million has been allocated for development projects. It included Rs 1340.785 million for establishment of University of Engineering & Technology Lahore sub campus Narowal, Rs 73.500 million for setting up of Center for Energy Research & Development at KSK Campus of UET Lahore and Rs 1000 million for Strengthening of UET Lahore.

More over Rs 150,956 million approved for the scholarship to the students.

The Syndicate also approved budget for Rachna College of Engineering & Technology Gujranwala for Rs 267.776 million for the year 2017-17, IB & M budget of Rs 151.800 million for 2017-18. Huge amount of budget was approved for research for young PhD, teachers, increase in salaries and pensions, publications. It was explained that deficit will be meet by generating more income from its own sources.

In the meeting academic matters were discussed and the recommendation of Academic Council and Selection Board were approved.
