RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Leader of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians and former Minister for Petroleum, Dr Asim Hussain, urged the Supreme Court on Monday for removal of his name from Exit Control List (ECL) on medical grounds.

Earlier, Sindh High Court on June 04, 2017 had rejected his plea saying all the medical facilities which Dr Asim required were available in Pakistan.

Filing appeal against the Sindh High Court’s decision under Article 185 (3) in the matter, Dr Asim Hussain made Federation of Pakistan through secretary interior, government of Sindh through home secretary, chairman National Accountability Bureau and inspector general police Sindh as respondents.

Dr Asim prayed the Supreme Court to issue directives to the authorities to return his passports with permission to go abroad for medical treatment in the interest of the justice. While seeking the court’s directives for removal of his name from the ECL, Dr Asim requested, “It is also requested that the respondents may be directed not to place any obstructions in travel of the petitioner abroad and his right of movement within and outside Pakistan may not be obstructed in any manner whatsoever.”
