PESHAWAR: Three terrorists including their ring leader were killed in an exchange of fire with police in Chamkani area of the metropolitan city on Saturday, while four police personnel received injuries in the clash.

Terrorists had taken shelter in a building to conduct and subversive activities in the area. The police encircled the building and asked terrorists to surrender but they refused to lay down arms. Police retaliated the fire and killed three terrorists, while one wounded terrorist was also arrested. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from them.

Talking to media persons, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Tahir Khan said that police discovered early Saturday morning a flour mill that terrorists were using to make bombs.

Khan also said that two terrorists were killed and five security officers were injured in an exchange of fire between police and terrorists in Peshawar, in an operation that began in the wee hours of Saturday.

The police also seized a huge cache of arms from the factory including six hang grenades, four pistols, four Kalashnikovs, explosives making material, 600 detonators, primer cord, integrated circuits, time-device and multiple mobile phones with pictures of different locations.

Khan said the factory is multi-storey and there might be more explosive-making material which could be hidden elsewhere within the vicinity.

However, one terrorist also managed to escape, Khan said, adding search operations with the help of sniffer dogs are being conducted to find the suspect. The operation started when terrorists opened fire on the policemen during a raid near grid station of Chamkani area. After this, the terrorists hid into a flour mill. Police obtained a heavy contingent to deal with the remaining terrorists in an operation that lasted all night.

As a result of the operation, three police officers and two security officials were injured, said police. The police officers have sustained minor injuries, said Khan.

Inspector General Police (IGP) Salahuddin Masood commended the police for their dedication and remarked that the terrorists belonged to a banned outfit.

Meanwhile, at least one student was injured when a landmine exploded in Ladha, South Waziristan Saturday morning. The injured student was shifted to Agency Headquarters Hospital Wana, said hospital sources. He has been identified as Naimat.

APP adds: various Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) were conducted in suspected areas of the country for search of the terror suspects during the last 24 hours, which resulted in killing of three terrorists while injuring one soldier and three policemen.

The security forces also rounded up 12 terror suspects besides recovering arms and ammunition. All these activities relate to Operation Radd ul Fasaad, being conducted across the country.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, in an IBO at Mathra, Peshawar 3 terrorists were killed in exchange of fire while one soldier and 3 policemen were injured.

In Punjab, Pakistan Rangers Punjab along with CTD, police and intelligence agencies conducted joint search operations in outskirts of Faisalabad, Gojra and Jarranwala. During these operations, 12 suspects were apprehended, while Illegal weapons were also recovered.
