KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange Friday witnessed a mixed trend due to investors’ cautious stance. Due to selling in the second half of the session, the benchmark index moving between 46,833.19 points intra-day high and 46,507.32 points intra-day low levels, settled at 46,565.29 points, down 146.56 points.

Trading activity however improved as daily volumes increased to 235.703 million shares as compared to 187.404 million shares traded on Thursday. The market capitalization however increased by Rs 17 billion to Rs 9.522 trillion. Out of total 365 active scrips, 212 closed in positive, 132 in negative while the value of 21 stocks remained unchanged.

K-Electric was the volume leader with 29.713 million shares. It gained Rs 0.05 to close at Rs 6.90 followed by NIB Bank that increased by Rs 0.25 to close at Rs 1.72 with 23.008 million shares. Engro Polymer declined by Rs 1.23 to close at Rs 36.50 with 18.034 million shares.

Philip Morris and Pak Tobacco were the top gainers with Rs 136.00 and Rs 79.00, respectively to close at Rs 2,866.00 and Rs 1,695.00. Nestle Pakistan and Sanofi-Aventis were the top losers with Rs 200.00 and Rs 59.67 respectively to close at Rs 10,200.00 and Rs 1,776.66.
