RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani on Thursday accepted the resignation of former Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPP) Senator Babar Awan, which was tendered last month after the latter joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Awan met Rabbani at his chamber to ensure that he had submitted his resignation without any pressure. Under the rules of Senate, it is mandatory for a senator to appear before the chair in person to inform that he/she is resigning without any pressure.

The chairman Senate sent Awan’s file to the Senate Secretariat after the latter confirmed that he has resigned without any pressure and on his own free will. Rabbani will formally announce Awan’s resignation in the upcoming Senate session.
