KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Karachi has started assisting Sindh Traffic Police in order to streamline the system for driving licenses.

According to details, two DIGs Traffic Imran Yaqoob Minhas, PSP and Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh, PSP visited NAB office, Karachi and gave a detailed presentation to the regional board chaired by DG NAB (Karachi) Mohammad Altaf Bawany.

The meeting was convened in line with NAB’s prevention regime. The main purpose of the presentation was suggesting measures to DIGs in order to streamline the system of issuance of driving licenses and its fee along with certain extra fees charged from the public for driving licenses.

NAB officials said both senior police Officers informed about the overall functioning of driving license branch and measures taken by the department for improving the previous system.

They further said that driving license branch under Sindh police was working in paperless environment with 40 terminals with minimum human interaction and online processing of driving licenses. According to the DIGs, the new system has increased the capacity of the department by 200 percent that resulted speedy processing and disposal of driving licenses.

DG NAB Mohammad Altaf Bawany asked both DIGs to devise a comprehensive system to link the traffic violations with driving licenses to curb careless drivers and offered all assistance in term of timely action against traffic violators.

He also suggested the police authorities to take appropriate steps for taking stern action against fake driving license mafia.
