ISLAMABAD: The government on Sunday claimed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had neither concealed his employment with Capital FZE nor the ‘iqama’ or work permit which he had obtained during his stay in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“The prime minister had declared all these things in his nomination papers submitted to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in 2013 general elections. We have submitted the details to apex court,” state minister for capital administration and development division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary and MNA Daniyal Aziz told a press conference.

They said that there is no truth in what the joint investigation team (JIT) had said about the offshore company of the prime minister in Dubai, and all the relevant documents which were submitted to the ECP, have been submitted to ECP.

In a written reply submitted to the apex court through his counsel Khawaja Haris, Amjad Pervaiz and Saad Hashmi, the prime minister rejected the allegation that he had concealed his employment as claimed by joint investigation team (JIT) that investigated the Sharif family’s offshore assets.

“The Iqama and Respondent No 1 [Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif]’s employment with Capital FZE is reflected in the copies of his passport annexed with the nomination forms submitted for the general elections 2013,” reads the reply submitted on Saturday – just a day after the top court reserved its judgment in the Panamagate case.

According to PML-N leaders, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan will have to give the money trail for his Bani Gala.

They claimed that the Sharif family provided all the record of their wealth to apex court, adding the PTI chief who left no stone unturned to harm the democratic system cannot escape the accountability.

Dr Chaudhry said that Imran Khan, who accused each and sundry of evading taxes, and money laundering and now it his turn to prove his innocence as the nation wants to know how he purchased his Bani Gala state.
