RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: All political banners including the one calling on Shahbaz Sharif to replace Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister have been removed in the city, especially those popped up in front of the Punjab Assembly on the Mall Road.

As the sword of disqualification is hanging over Nawaz Sharif and his political future is in doldrums, there was a sudden conspicuous popping of banners on Sunday in the city inscribed as "Janey Do Janey Do Mian Sahib - Aney Do Aney Do Mian Shabaz Ko Aney Do."

Pakistan Peoples Party that has also become very active against the PML-N government following JIT report in the Panama case had also put up banners calling for Nawaz Sharif's resignation with slogans "MukGya Tera Show-Go Nawaz Go.

Political observers say since there is a power struggle going on in the dynastic Sharif family and Nawaz Sharif along with his heir apparent Maryam Nawaz have considerably lost their moral and political authority in the wake of Panama papers inquiry Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza have genuine aspirations to take Nawaz's place in case of his disqualification to keep the power in the family.

However, President PML-N Lahore Pervaiz Malik, General Secretary Kh Imran Nazir and Secretary Information Imran Ali Guraya have expressed disassociation from these specific banners displayed by some elements and said the entire party is united under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

In a joint statement, they said, neither such elements have any link with the party nor it is party policy, action will be taken against those displaying such mischievous banners and they will be identified and disclosed.

They said certain elements want to achieve their specific designs by creating misunderstanding in the current situation of the country but every Muslim League worker is standing with its leadership and will never become a part of such as naughtiness.

They also appealed to the media not to issue stance of anyone without verification from the party and hoped that all party wings and workers were standing united to steer Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif out of the current challenge.

The workers will never become part of any rumour or concocted story and will stand united forever for strengthening the party.
