LAHORE: Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Lahore has announced the results of Matric Annual Examination 2017 in details. As much as 226,619 students appeared in the exam, while 167,131 got success in the examination and percentage of success remained 73.75 percent.

In Science group around 143,037 students appeared where as 116,240 students were passed out with the ratio of 81.27 percent. Among humanities group 50,891 out of 83,582 students were able to pass the examination with the pass percentage of 60.89 percent.

However, among male regular students 52,260 out of 65,769 were passed with percentage of 79.46 and among female regular students 63,248 out of 72,156 were able to pass out the exam making the passing percentage up to 87.65. Similarly, among private male students 48,290 students appeared in the exam and 24,857 were passed and the percentage was 51.47. Among female private students the percentage remain 66.25 as 26,766 out of 40,404 students were passed. 

A simple but impressive ceremony was held at Alhamra Hall on Tuesday with Provincial Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and Information Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman jointly chaired the ceremony.

They distributed certificates and medals among the position holders. Students, their parents and school teachers attended the ceremony in a large numbers. The BISE Lahore presented cash award worth 20 thousand, 15 and 10 thousand along with gold, silver and bronze medals to students getting first, second and third positions respectively. Their teachers were also given medals by the Lahore Board.

The Chairman BISE Lahore Prof Ch Muhammad Ismail presented the address of welcome and said that the examination results have been prepared with due care, transparency and efficiency adding that results are RL free and the result is announced according to the given schedule. The details of result of annual examination 2017 have also been uploaded on the website www.biselahore.com.

The ceremony was kept quite simple due to the Kot Lakhpat blast.

Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman separately congratulated the position holder students in their respective addresses and hoped that the students would continue to work hard to further excel in their studies.

They also said keeping in view of the emerging scenario in the region, the Punjab government has introduced educational reforms with the aim to train youth in different skills which will be helpful in reaping the benefits of the emerging economic scenario.

According to the results, Umer Tariq of Teach A Child High School for Boys Johar Town grabbed first position by securing 1087 marks, Soban Khalid of Muslim Public High School Sheikhupura and Aleesa Kaleem of The Educators School Ferozwala jointly secured second position by getting 1086 marks whereas third position was secured by Muhammad Abdullah of Unique High School Muslim Town and Muhammad Abdullah Saleem of Government Central Model High School Lahore by getting 1085 marks.

Similarly, in Science Group among girls the first position was grabbed by Aleesa Kaleem of The Educators Ferozwala by getting 1086 marks. The second position was shared by three students including Zunaira Khan of Allama Iqbal Public School Kasur, Afaf Rehman of Crescent Model High School Lahore and Maira Zafar of The Educators School Pattoki by getting 1083 marks.

The most interesting result stand for third position Science Group among Girls where for the first time a position was shared by six students. Misbah Nasir of The Educators Sir Syed Campus Pattoki, Laraib Akmal, Farwa, Hafiza Khadeeja Mutahir, Fatima Awais and Adeen Imtiaz shared the position by getting 1082 marks.

In Science Group among boys the overall position holders grabbed all three positions. Umer Tariq of Teach A Child High School for Boys Johar Town got first position and got 1087 marks, Soban Khalid of Muslim Public High School Sheikhupura secured second position by getting 1086 marks whereas third position was jointly secured by Muhammad Abdullah of Unique High School Muslim Town and Muhammad Abdullah Saleem of Government Central Model High School Lahore by getting 1085 marks.

In Humanities group among girls first position was grabbed by Habiba Bahjat of Qurban Girls High School Lahore by getting 1055 marks, second and third positions were secured by Ayesha of Allama Iqbal School Kasur and Fariha Haq of Government Pak Standard School Shadbagh Lahore by getting 1052 and 1041 marks respectively.

In Humanities group among boys Usama Ikram of Government High School Sheikhupura and Zaryab Amjad a private student grabbed first position and secured 1020 marks. Ghazanfar Ali of Government Taeed ul Islam School Kasur and Muhammad Afzal a private student got second and third positions respectively by getting 1016 and 1001 marks.
